Scope

This policy applies to the ModeGuide for AI Chrome extension (“ModeGuide”). ModeGuide is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.

Data accessed temporarily

• The unsent text in the ChatGPT composer when you click Check setting.
• Recent messages visible on the page only when you explicitly choose Use recent context.
• Whether an attachment is present and the workload mode you select.
• Visible model and reasoning-level labels needed to apply and verify a setting.

This data is processed temporarily in your browser to provide the feature. It is not collected by the developer. ModeGuide does not read attachment file contents or image contents.

Preferences stored locally

ModeGuide stores display language, priority, remaining weekly allowance, context behavior, ChatGPT plan, available models and reasoning levels, and onboarding status in Chrome local storage.

Drafts, conversation text, attachment contents, recommendation results, and recommendation history are not stored.

How data is used

Temporarily accessed data is used only to calculate a model and reasoning-level suggestion locally, apply it after an explicit user action, and verify the visible setting.

No transmission, sharing, or sale

ModeGuide does not transmit drafts, conversations, preferences, or results to the developer or any third-party server. It does not share or sell data, serve ads, track behavior, or use data to train AI models.

There are no external requests, analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or remote code.

Permission and site access

The storage permission stores only the preferences described above on your device. ModeGuide runs only on https://chatgpt.com/* and accesses that site to place its checking interface beside the ChatGPT composer.

Retention and deletion

Preferences remain on your device while the extension is installed. You can change them in the popup. Removing the extension causes Chrome to remove ModeGuide's local extension data.

Limited Use

ModeGuide limits use of user data to its single purpose: recommending and applying a model and reasoning level. It does not use user data for advertising, credit assessment, sale, or human review.

ModeGuide's use of information accessed through Chrome and ChatGPT adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes

This page will be updated if features or data practices change. Material changes will also be disclosed in the extension before the new practice begins.
